Bishop Theodosios of Ancona

Bishop Theodosios (Vasilios L . Sideris), was born on July 20th 1903 in Vryoula, Smyrna, in Asia Minor. A graduate of the Rizarios Teacher's College and the University of Athens Theological School in Athens, Greece, he received his degree in Orthodox Theology in 1935. He was ordained a Deacon in 1926 and a Priest in 1933. He came to the United States on November 3rd 1937. His first pastorate was the Sts. Constantine and Helen Church in Richmond, Va. He pursued theological studies at the Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va, and received his Master's Degree in Theology in 1942. He undertook doctoral studies and received his Doctorate in Theology from Union Seminary in 1947.
He was assigned Pastor of the Three Hierarchs Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. From 1954 until September, 1960 when he was elevated to Bishop of Ancona. He served as Auxiliary Bishop to Archbishop Iakovos and became Bishop of the Pittsburgh (Sixth) Archdiocesan District until December, 1967 at which time he was assigned-to serve the Canadian (Ninth) Archdiocesan District in Toronto. He retired on November 1st 1973 at the age of 70.
